Top Tips For Getting Crafty With The Kids This Easter

Top Tips For Getting Crafty With The Kids This Easter

Easter is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate the season than by getting crafty with the little ones?

At Paint Plot, we believe in nurturing creativity and exploration, which is why we've rounded up our top five Easter craft ideas to inspire you and your family. From using leftover paints to making fluffy slime, these activities are not only fun but also educational and rewarding.

  1. Get Creative with Leftover Paints: Have some leftover paints from your Paint Plot paint by number kits? Put them to good use by letting the kids unleash their creativity on a blank canvas.

Whether you all print off a PDF of a bunny or something Easter themed, painting is a fantastic way to spark imagination and develop fine motor skills.

One of our Paint Plot community members Tina printed off our Easter competition PDF from last year and decorated it with her left-over paints and wrappers from the Easter Eggs.

  1. Use Leftover Wool and String to Decorate: Don't let those odds and ends of wool and string go to waste! Encourage the kids to get inventive by using them to decorate cards, Easter eggs, or even homemade Easter baskets.

This activity not only promotes resourcefulness but also allows children to practice their hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Desley was one of the winners from last year’s Easter Competition.  She combined her two greatest loves: painting and embroidery.

Jessica created this beauty by using leftover bits of wool, string, paper etc lying around the house.

  1. Make Fluffy Slime: Dive into the world of sensory play with a DIY fluffy slime project. Not only is making slime a fun and tactile experience, but it also provides an opportunity for kids to explore scientific concepts like mixing and measuring.

Check out our easy-to-follow recipe below for hours of squishy, stretchy fun!

  2. Add the cornstarch and mix until the slime begins to thicken.
  3. If desired, add a few drops of food colouring and glitter for extra pizzazz.
  4. Slowly add contact lens solution while stirring until the slime pulls away from the sides of the bowl and forms a cohesive ball.

  1. Create Nature-inspired Art: Take advantage of the autumn colours by heading outdoors for some nature-inspired crafting. Collect leaves, petals, and other natural materials to create beautiful collages or pressed flower artwork. This activity encourages kids to appreciate the beauty of the natural world while fostering a sense of curiosity and wonder.
  1. Decorate Easter Eggs: No Easter crafting session would be complete without decorating eggs! Whether you opt for traditional dyeing techniques or get creative with markers, stickers, and glitter, decorating Easter eggs is a timeless tradition that brings joy to children of all ages. Plus, it's a fantastic opportunity for kids to express themselves artistically and showcase their unique personalities.

These ideas are just the beginning of the endless possibilities for Easter crafting fun.
